Clean anal toys according to the manufacturer’s instructions after each use. The correct method depends on the material, waterproof rating, electronics, seams, charging contacts and overall construction. Many nonporous toys can be washed with warm water and mild, unscented soap, but do not boil, submerge or place a toy in the dishwasher unless the manufacturer specifically approves that cleaning method.
Stop pushing or pulling forcefully and try to relax your pelvic floor and anal muscles. If the toy has an accessible flared base, handle or retrieval loop, use it gently while bearing down in a comfortable position. Do not use sharp objects or other tools to retrieve it. If you cannot remove the toy comfortably, or you develop significant pain, bleeding or other concerning symptoms, seek medical care.
There is no universal wear-time limit that applies to every butt plug. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific product and start with shorter, comfortable sessions while you learn how the plug fits and feels. Remove it if you experience pain, numbness, increasing pressure, irritation or difficulty keeping the base comfortably positioned, and do not assume longer wear provides a better experience.
