Dildos are insertable sex toys available in realistic, non-phallic, curved, vibrating, thrusting, suction-cup, harness-compatible, glass, and double-ended designs. The right choice depends on the type of stimulation you prefer, the insertable length and diameter, the material, firmness, texture, base design, controls, cleaning requirements, and intended use.
For this 2026 guide, we compared ten products based on comfort, dimensions, material quality, shape, firmness, texture, controls, suction performance, harness compatibility, motor strength, noise, waterproof rating, cleaning, warranty, price, and overall value. We also considered whether each product is appropriate for beginners, intermediate users, experienced users, solo play, partnered use, or harness use.
Our best overall choice is the VixSkin Vixen Mustang 6.5 because its dual-density silicone, manageable insertable length, realistic texture, and suction-cup base offer a balanced combination of comfort and versatility. The Velvet Teddy GS is the stronger self-thrusting option, while the VixSkin Vixen Gambler is better suited to experienced users seeking an oversized harness-compatible product.
Beginners should start with manageable dimensions, a smooth surface, a stable base, and a material that is easy to clean. Any dildo used anally must have a secure flared retrieval base and must be intended for anal use. Use a compatible lubricant, follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions, and stop if you experience sharp pain, numbness, bleeding, or persistent irritation.
Quick Verdict
The VixSkin Vixen Mustang 6.5 is the best overall option for users who want a realistic dual-density dildo with a reliable suction base and moderate dimensions. The Velvet Teddy GS is the best self-thrusting choice for experienced users who prioritize hands-free G-spot stimulation. The Fun Factory Big Boss is our best vibrating dildo for users who want strong internal vibration, a curved shape, and a grip-friendly base
For harness use, choose a product with a base designed to sit securely in the harness or compatible attachment system. For oversized products, check both insertable length and diameter rather than relying on total length alone. A larger toy is not automatically more effective, and oversized products should not be presented as beginner options.
No single dildo suits every body or preference. The best choice is the product whose dimensions, firmness, stimulation style, base design, and maintenance requirements match how you plan to use it.

How We Pick, Test, and Rank Dildos
At PleasureMeNow, our recommendations are based on hands-on testing, product research, technical specifications, manufacturer information, retailer availability, and reader feedback. Our expert team evaluates each dildo for comfort, insertable dimensions, material quality, firmness, texture, shape, base stability, suction performance, harness compatibility, controls, motor performance, noise, waterproof rating, charging, cleaning, durability, warranty, price, and overall value.
We test products according to their intended use and identify who they are best suited to. This includes realistic dildos, non-phallic designs, suction-cup products, vibrating dildos, thrusting products, harness-compatible models, oversized dildos, G-spot shapes, and products intended for anal use. Anal suitability is included only when the exact product is designed for that purpose and has a secure retrieval base.
Our Wow Factor Score reflects expert testing and editorial review. Reader votes are displayed separately to show audience interest and experience. Reader votes do not automatically determine our editorial Best Overall recommendation.
Each product must meet our editorial standards for material disclosure, intended use, comfort, hygiene, build quality, and value before inclusion. We also identify meaningful limitations, including excessive size, difficult handling, porous materials, motor noise, charging time, weak bases, and products that should not be used anally.
Use the comparison table to compare product type, insertable length, maximum diameter, material, firmness, base type, suction cup, harness compatibility, motor type, waterproof rating, cleaning, warranty, price, best use case, and main limitation.

Top 10 Dildos We Tested in 2026
Below are the products that stood out during testing for realistic feel, internal stimulation, vibration, self-thrusting movement, suction performance, harness compatibility, oversized dimensions, or specialised use. We compared each product using its intended purpose rather than assuming that the largest or most powerful product is automatically the best.
Velvet Teddy GS
Best Self-Thrusting G-Spot Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
202
- Material: Medical-Grade, Platinum-Cured Silicone
- Power source: Rechargeable
- Warranty: 1 year
- Allergens: Phthalate-free - Non-porous
- Total length: 279 mm / 11 in
- Base width: 63.5 mm / 2.5 in
- Insertable length: 152 mm / 6 in
- Width at widest insertable point: 32 mm / 1.25 in
- Pros
- It produced an exceptionally intense orgasm
- You’ll get a lot for your money
- The shape, stroke length and suction cup are totally worth the price
- Cons
- Not fully waterproof
- The motor can get too noisy
This self-propelled G-spot dildo is one of the most distinctive toys I have tested. It delivers up to 128 powerful thrusts per minute, creating fast and consistent internal stimulation.
The strong suction-cup base allows for fully hands-free use, while the curved tip provides targeted contact during each thrust and repeatedly stimulates the G-spot.
My main complaint is the motor noise. At the higher intensity settings, the toy becomes noticeably loud, which makes it less suitable for discreet sessions.
Bottom line: The best self-thrusting G-spot dildo for powerful hands-free stimulation, with up to 128 thrusts per minute, a secure suction cup, and a precisely curved tip. It becomes loud at higher settings.
Best Modular Strap-On Kit
Biggest
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
194
- Material: Ultraskyn
- Power source: Hand
- Allergens: Latex-Free, Phthalate-Free
- Waterproof: Submersible
- Circumference: 133 mm / 5.25 in
- Insertable Length: 178 mm / 7 in
- Length: 203 mm / 8 in
- Pros
- More size than most users will ever need
- The Vac-U-Lock plugs are fantastic (plus they look like cute little butt plugs!)
- The kit is super versatile for solo and coupled fun
- Cons
- All of the dildos have the same width
- The dildo material is not the safest
From the blue veining and pronounced pink head to the detailed testicle-shaped base, this dildo is designed to provide a highly lifelike appearance. Its substantial size also creates a fuller, more intense experience than many comparable models.
The dildo is compatible with a wide range of strap-on harnesses and Vac-U-Lock systems. Its broad base makes it suitable for both vaginal and anal use, although its larger dimensions are best suited to experienced users. Use generous lubricant and proceed slowly during insertion.
The soft texture comes from the manufacturer’s UR3 material. While it feels flexible and lifelike, UR3 is porous and requires more careful cleaning, drying, and storage than non-porous materials. Using a condom over the toy can make maintenance easier and reduce direct contact with the surface.
Bottom line: The best lifelike design on our list, with soft UR3 material, Vac-U-Lock compatibility, and a harness-ready base. Its porous surface requires more careful cleaning and maintenance.
VixSkin Vixen Mustang 6.5"
Best Overall Realistic Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
179
- Material: Silicone
- Power source: Hand
- Allergens: Phthalate-free - Non-porous
- Total length: 178 mm / 7 in
- Insertable length: 165 mm / 6.5 in
- Widest insertable point: 41 mm / 1.6 in
- Pros
- Personally, I enjoyed the 6.5-inch size, even though I usually prefer larger options
- The dual-density design and VixSkin material make this dildo feel incredible
- The suction cup is high quality and it won’t slip off during use!
- Cons
- It may feel too small if you prefer larger sizes, but this ultimately comes down to personal preference
- No testicle-shaped base, although this is purely a matter of personal preference
- It is expensive, but the quality and performance justify the price
I can confidently say this is one of the best suction-cup dildos I have tested. The base stays firmly in place during faster, more energetic movement without slipping or losing suction.
The material feels exceptionally soft and smooth, making insertion comfortable with a suitable amount of lubricant. The pronounced head and realistic veined texture also add noticeable stimulation.
My only preference would be the addition of a realistic testicle-shaped base. That detail would make the premium price easier to justify, although the overall performance is still excellent.
Bottom line: The best suction-cup dildo we tested, with exceptionally secure suction, soft material, comfortable insertion, and a realistic veined texture.
VixSkin Vixen Johnny
Best Curved Harness-Compatible Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
164
- Material: Silicone
- Power source: Hand
- Allergens: Latex-Free, Phthalate-Free
- Waterproof: Submersible
- Circumference: 146 mm / 5.75 in
- Insertable Length: 178 mm / 7 in
- Length: 203 mm / 8 in
- Pros
- It looks incredible and feels even more realistic!
- The curved shape provides targeted contact with all my favorite spots
- The firm core feels extremely intense, almost overwhelming
- It feels best when it heats up to body temperature
- Cons
- The balls and flat base are a bit too big for my hand
- I’m really missing that suction cup!
If visual design matters as much to you as physical sensation, this model is a strong choice. Its lifelike appearance and soft texture create an appealing combination of style and performance.
The curved insertable portion provides targeted internal contact, while the detailed surface texture adds noticeable stimulation during use.
My main complaint is the lack of a suction-cup base, which prevents hands-free use. The wide base and testicle-shaped details were also slightly difficult for me to grip, making manual control challenging at times.
Bottom line: The best option for lifelike visual design, with a curved shape and detailed texture for targeted stimulation. A suction cup would make it easier to use hands-free.
Fun Factory G5 Big Boss
Best Vibrating Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
159
- Material: Silicone
- Power source: Rechargeable
- Allergens: Latex-Free, Phthalate-Free
- Waterproof: Submersible
- Usage time: 120 minutes
- Circumference: 146 mm / 5.75 in
- Insertable Length: 178 mm / 7 in
- Pros
- Intense G-spot and clitoral stimulation
- Appealing shape, satisfying size, and detailed texture
- Hands-free
- Cons
- It takes ages to charge (6-8 hours)
- I would have preferred some kind of app or wireless connectivity for remote operation.
- Not designed for anal use, which limits its versatility
With five speeds and four vibration patterns, this dildo provides varied internal stimulation. It can also be used externally on the clitoris, making it a versatile option for both internal and external play.
The shape and textured surface add noticeable stimulation, while the smooth material supports comfortable insertion with a suitable lubricant. Its distinctive base is also easy to grip, making the toy simple to hold and control during use.
My main complaint is the charging time. It takes around eight hours to reach a full charge, which feels excessive given the comparatively limited battery life.
Bottom line: The best versatile vibrating option, with five speeds, four patterns, external-stimulation potential, and an easy-to-hold base. The eight-hour charging time is its main drawback.
VixSkin Vixen Outlaw
Best Large Realistic Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
147
- Material: Silicone
- Power source: Hand
- Allergens: Phthalate-free - Non-porous
- Total length: 229 mm / 9 in
- Insertable length: 216 mm / 8.5 in
- Widest insertable point: 51 mm / 2 in
- Pros
- Extra-large size for experienced users
- Wide base suitable for anal play
- Soft, lifelike material with detailed surface texture
- Cons
- The testicle-shaped base could be larger
- No suction cup for hands-free use
If you want a large dildo for intense anal stimulation, this VixSkin model is one of the strongest options available. Its substantial size makes it best suited to experienced users who are already comfortable with larger toys.
The pronounced veined texture creates noticeable internal stimulation. Although the toy is not curved, it also made consistent G-spot contact during vaginal use, which was a pleasant surprise.
It does not include a suction-cup base, so you will need to hold and control it manually during use. Because of its size, use generous lubricant, proceed slowly, and stop immediately if you experience pain or persistent discomfort.
Bottom line: The best large anal-safe dildo for experienced users, with pronounced veining and satisfying internal stimulation during both anal and vaginal use. It does not include a suction cup, so hands-free use is not possible.
Fun Factory Stronic Real
Best Pulsating Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
138
- Material: Silicone
- Power source: Rechargeable
- Allergens: Phthalate-Free
- Waterproof: Submersible
- Circumference: 127 mm / 5 in
- Insertable Length: 140 mm / 5.5 in
- Length: 203 mm / 8 in
- Pros
- The shape feels awesome while inserted and it will suit most women
- The patterns and speeds offer plenty of different experiences
- Hands-free thrusting leaves both hands free during use
- Cons
- The handle can feel too small at times
- It does not have a flared base or secure retrieval handle, so it should not be used anally. Choose a thrusting toy specifically designed for anal use instead
- No remote control or app
The shape of this dildo may look simple, but it creates a surprisingly satisfying feeling of fullness during insertion. Its curved tip provides targeted internal contact, while the insertable length was sufficient to reach my G-spot comfortably.
With a varied selection of speeds and patterns, the toy can accommodate different sensitivity levels and experience levels. I preferred the strongest settings, but the gentler modes also make it approachable for beginners or users who prefer less intense stimulation.
My main concern is the handle. It can be difficult to grip securely, which makes the toy more likely to slip during use. It also lacks a flared base or secure retrieval handle, so it should not be used anally.
Bottom line: A versatile pulsating dildo with a satisfying size, curved G-spot tip, and broad range of speeds and patterns. The difficult-to-grip handle limits control, and the lack of a flared base means it is not suitable for anal use.
VixSkin Vixen Gambler
Best Oversized Harness Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
121
- Material: Silicone
- Allergens: Latex-Free, Phthalate-Free
- Power source: Hand
- Texture: Realistic
- Insertable Length: 267 mm / 10.5 in
- Diameter: 73 mm / 2.875 in
- Warranty: Lifetime
- Pros
- It’s one of the best huge dildos out there!
- The VixSkin material and the dual-layer construction feel fantastic during insertion
- I loved using it as a strap-on!
- Cons
- The base could be a little too thin or too small for you
In terms of size, this is one of the largest models I have tested. It felt slightly too big even for me, so it is best suited to experienced users who are already comfortable with extra-large toys.
The dual-layer construction combines a softer exterior with a firmer core, creating a realistic feel during insertion and controlled movement. It also performed particularly well in a compatible strap-on harness.
My main concern is the base, which is only slightly wider than the insertable portion and can be difficult to grip securely. I also would have preferred a suction cup for hands-free use, but this model does not include one.
Bottom line: The best extra-large strap-on option on our list, with a satisfying dual-layer construction and a harness-compatible design. Its narrow base limits grip, and the lack of a suction cup prevents hands-free use.
Uberrime The Maximus Giant
Best Oversized Silicone Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
71
- Material: Platinum Silicone
- Power source: Hand
- Allergens: Phthalate-free - Non-porous
- Head: Diameter: 48 mm / 1.9 in
- Head Circumference: 151 mm / 5.97 in
- Middle Shaft Diameter: 57 mm / 2.25 in
- Middle Shaft Circumference: 179.5 mm / 7.07 in
- Base of the Shaft Diameter: 62.7 mm / 2.47 in
- Base of the Shaft Circumference : 197 mm / 7.75 in
- Insertable Length: 216 mm / 8.5 in
- Pros
- Hypoallergenic, hygienic and durable
- The material and sculpted skin details make for a realistic feel
- Cons
- Not as sturdy as some other dildos on the market
If easy cleaning and hygienic use are priorities, this model is worth considering. It is made from a material described as hypoallergenic and designed to be relatively simple to maintain.
The dildo is water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, so it should not be completely submerged or used in the bath. Clean the surface carefully according to the manufacturer’s instructions, avoid exposing any non-waterproof components to excess moisture, and allow the toy to dry completely before storage.
The material feels soft and lifelike, while the pronounced veined texture adds noticeable stimulation during both vaginal and anal use. My main concern is durability, as the softer material may be more vulnerable to wear or damage over time.
Bottom line: The best hygiene-focused option, with easy maintenance, soft material, and pronounced veined texture. It is not fully waterproof, and its softer construction may be less durable than firmer alternatives.
Master Series Power Pounder
Best Controlled Thrusting Dildo
Tried it? Rate it! ( user's ratings directly affect the position of products in this table)
44
- Materials: Silicone, ABS Plastic
- Power source: Rechargeable
- Allergens: Phthalate-free - Non-porous
- Overall length: 273 mm / 10.75 in
- Insertable length: 171 mm / 6.75 in
- Width at widest point: 48 mm / 1.9 in
- Thrust depth: 12.7 mm / 0.5 in
- Pros
- The sturdy handle allows for measured and firm strokes
- 7 different thrusting levels and various intense vibration speeds
- Easy to insert and use even if you aren’t experienced
- Cons
- Only compatible with water-based lube
- Too pricey for such a simple toy
This toy has one of the sturdiest handles I have tested, giving you precise control over the depth, pace, and pressure of each movement. It also includes a strong selection of vibration speeds and patterns.
The broad intensity range makes it a good option for exploring different sensations and building confidence with insertable toys. The gentler settings are suitable for beginners, while the stronger modes provide a natural progression for users who want more intensity.
Although it is more expensive than many entry-level options, the build quality, control, and versatility make it a worthwhile first purchase for anyone who wants a dependable vibrating dildo.
Bottom line: The best option for beginners who want room to progress, with a sturdy handle, controlled movement, and vibration settings ranging from gentle to powerful. The higher price reflects its quality and versatility.

How to Choose the Right Dildo
“Whether you’re enjoying a solo session or exploring with a partner, there is a dildo out there for every body, every desire and every level of experience. That’s what makes them the most versatile toy in the game.”
For all you honeys who felt a little intimidated: you don’t need to be into any particular kink or style to enjoy a high-quality dildo. What I’m trying to say is that there’s a dildo for each of us out there… These bad boys are some of the simplest and most effective toys available. A high-quality dildo can change up your entire game regardless of if you’re using it solo or getting wild with your partner.
Really, a good dildo is like a little black dress that you can use time and time again. It goes well with everything and it will keep you entertained for hours!
But… I get what you might be thinking: “Scarlett, what’s so special about a dildo? It’s bendy, it doesn’t vibrate… It’s just like any other penis out there except it’s fake!” Well, sweetie, that’s exactly the point!
Why People Use Dildos
For starters, a quality dildo gives you reliable access to internal stimulation whenever you want it. It can be used during solo play or partnered play and allows you to control the pace, depth, and duration of each session. Unlike partnered penetration, a dildo does not tire or lose firmness, making it easier to maintain consistent stimulation for as long as you are comfortable.
Classic dildos provide straightforward vaginal or anal stimulation, provided the toy has a flared base or secure retrieval handle for anal use. They can also be used externally on other sensitive areas or for oral-style play when the material is body-safe, the shape is suitable, and the toy has been cleaned thoroughly.
What’s more, there are many other dildo categories. That’s where all the fun begins! Starting from adorable non-phallic dildos to vibrating dildos that send deep shockwaves throughout your entire body. And what about an ejaculating dildo that delivers a realistic finish, or huge dildos that take your experience to entirely new dimensions?
Potential Benefits and Use Cases
If you are unsure what to expect, here are the main sensations and features an extra-large dildo can provide:
- A premium substitute for a full-size, realistic experience (with all the details!).
- Maximum versatility.
- They’re perfect for solo masturbation and couple play.
- They pair extremely well with other sex toys for multi-purpose stimulation.
- Dildos can provide both vaginal and anal stimulation, provided the toy has a wide flared base or secure retrieval handle for anal use.
- Great for threesomes with another toy or even DP fantasies
- They can help you to learn how to orgasm from penetration (if you haven’t already).
- Dildos will strengthen your clit orgasms and even help you to reach elusive blended orgasms. And don’t even get me started on squirting!
- Some vibrating, rotating and thrusting dildos with suction cups can boost the fun even further by giving you an all-out orgasm machine.
- Ejaculating dildos deliver a realistic finish whenever that particular fantasy appeals to you.
What Makes a Good Dildo?
Today, dildos are available in an enormous range of shapes, sizes, materials, and features to suit different preferences and fantasies. However, there is no single model that will satisfy everyone. The best dildo is the one that matches your body, experience level, and preferred type of stimulation.
The best way to choose the right toy is to focus on your preferred size, material, shape, features, and type of stimulation. Compare those details carefully and select the dildo that best matches your body, experience level, and personal preferences.
If you want a toy for intimate solo sessions, a non-phallic dildo in a manageable, average size can be a comfortable choice. If you prefer more length or fullness, consider a larger model that matches your experience level and personal preferences.
Dildo vs Vibrator: What Is the Difference?
What makes huge dildos different compared to real cocks and vibrators? Well, dildos are some of the most popular sex toys for penetration. The quality options are precision made out of premium materials to provide a lifelike feel. Traditional dildos are molded to create a dick-like shape, complete with anatomically correct lengths, girths and various visual elements.
Many dildos are designed with a lifelike appearance and texture, while others use abstract or non-phallic shapes. Consider whether you prefer realistic anatomical details or a more discreet, stylized design.
Realistic and Non-Phallic Designs
When it comes to the whole dildo vs vibrator vs dick debate, I can honestly say that dildos are the closest things that can get you to the sensation of real-life deep penetration. Vibrators are their own category and they are designed to stimulate you externally and internally and they vibrate in a different way.
What’s more, the biggest difference between a dildo and a real cock is, of course, the fact that there’s no male body attached to it. But that can also have its benefits! Sure, what you’re missing here is companionship, emotional support, cuddling and all those other fluffy moments. Still, none of that could matter if you’re looking for a toy to help you experience deep, intense penetration for the very first time
Types of Dildos
After testing more huge dildos than you can imagine, I can assure you that the type of dildo you buy will play a major role in your pleasure.
For example, lifelike dildos are ideal if you prefer realistic details and sensations, and they can also support consensual threesome fantasies during partnered play. If you want more intensity, a vibrating dildo adds powered stimulation, while an anal dildo with a wide flared base or secure retrieval handle is designed specifically for safe anal use. Here are the main types of dildos to consider:
Realistic Dildos
When in doubt, I always go with a lifelike huge dildo. Basically, realistic dildos are precision crafted out of silicone or TPE to resemble real dongs. Except, these dildos never go limp. You can ride them ‘till the sun comes up! What’s more, most of them have those distinctive veins that make lots of women’s jaws drop.
Pronounced veins, curves, testicle-shaped details, and a defined head can create a more textured, lifelike sensation. These dildos are available in a wide range of skin tones, colors, lengths, and girths, from compact travel-friendly models to extra-large options designed for experienced users.
Trust me, the fun never ends with a realistic dildo – you can use it for pretty much any scenario you can imagine. Richard and I have incorporated them into our play in ways that would fill a whole other article… Let’s just say the variety of uses kept things very interesting. And yes, he has opinions. Strong ones. But I’ve sworn to keep this one PG-13 for now – you’re welcome!
Vibrating Dildos
If you’re craving powerful pulsations outside and inside your cherry pie, vibrating dildos will certainly provide them for you, but in a different way compared to traditional vibrators.
Basically, vibrating dildos look just like standard realistic dildos but they have built-in vibrating motors. This gives them extra weight. It also makes them less flexible. Nevertheless, the difference is not so noticeable to me and it gives the vibrations a unique quality.
Since the size and materials are a bit thicker compared to standard vibrators, the vibrations come across as deep rumbles rather than high-frequency fizzes. Other vibrating dildos use insertable bullet vibes. I’m not the biggest fan of these because they are small and the dildo material could muffle the vibrations a bit. Still, they’re a neat option if you want a lighter vibrating dildo with decent amounts of power on tap. Additionally, most vibrating dildos will allow you to change the speeds, strengths and patterns on the fly.
Suction Dildos
A suction dildo will include some type of suction cup at the base. The cup forms a vacuum when you push your dildo against a flat surface. Then, your massive dildo will stick up in the air proudly as you grind against it hands-free.
What makes suction cup dildos special is that you don’t need to push them in and out with your hands. You can stick them to hard floors, tiles, walls, bathtubs, shower walls, doors and various other areas. Then, you can back your ass up on them from the side or climb on top of them to ride ‘em like a rodeo. Yee-haw!
Moreover, there are several different suction mechanisms. Some are built-in right under the balls of your toy and others have rotating suction cups.
And if you’re into threesomes, this type will work wonders if you want to get pounded from the back while sucking your partner off or vice-versa. There’s nothing like getting a good spitroast going on a lazy Sunday afternoon!
Glass Dildos
Now, glass dildos are truly special cookies. They can have realistic or non-phallic designs, but most of them look like works of art. Glass dildos are a bit more expensive because it takes time and effort to craft them out of hand-blown glass. Still, they feel completely different compared to softer silicone dildos.
Typically, glass dildos are very hard and tough. They give you a lot of pressure during penetration. Trust me, you’ll never forget the first time your vagina starts to tighten up around your glass dildo!
What’s more, glass dildos heat up when you push them inside to produce unique temperature play sensations. You can also cool them down and press them against all your body parts to feel special tingly sensations. And best of all? They make for a damn fine decorative showpiece in your living room!
Double-Ended Dildos
Double ended dildos? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! These huge double-sided dongs are some of the most extreme and kinkiest toys. They’re usually around 14 inches long and they have two insertable ends on either side. They’re super long to enable you to push one end in your vagina and another in your butt. Damn girl, there’s a workout you’ll never forget! However, you can also slide one end in your partner and the other inside you for some extra-intimate sensations.
Generally, a double sided dildo is similar to a classic realistic dildo and it uses the usual flexy materials. It’s a great tool for all sorts of kinky DP fantasies and other BDSM exploits.
Thrusting Dildos
Thrusting dildos are the most intense toys that will get you as close as possible to using a full-sized sex machine. Even better, they’re not as big as a treadmill and they’re much quieter! You can buy other thrusting toys like vibrators or G-spot massagers, but adding thrusting functions to a big, thick dildo machine just makes it so much more magical.
Usually, this type has a handle at the base for the controls. You can use it to configure all sorts of automated stuff. Most of these toys pump in and out of you. Others can rotate, twist and twirl. They’ll thrust along the entire shaft but some have an extending head or a base where all the in/out action comes from. Thrusting dildos also extend in length to fill you up entirely.
Plus, some of them can also include telescopic suction cups for 360-degree action while others can give you vibrating functions along with intense thrusting. And if you’ve always fantasized about sex machines, thrusting dildos with external motors are some of the most affordable solutions. Looking for something that delivers the intensity of a sex machine in a handheld format? A large thrusting dildo is exactly what you need!
G-Spot Dildos
Essentially, G-spot dildos have a curved shape intended to precisely target your sweet spot. You can caress or ram into it, depending on what you’re into. Then, you’ll get your chance to summon that legendary G-spot orgasm!
These dildos are different from regular G-spot massagers because they look like cocks, which is yet another bonus. Nothing helps me hit that G-spot orgasm harder than a curved dildo with the right shape and angle! There are two choices to make here: non-vibrating or vibrating G-spot dildos. That will depend on the sensitivity of your G-spot. Moreover, you’ll get to choose between a short or long dildo depending on the location of your squirt button.
Other Types of Dildos
If you truly want to feel like a kid in a candy shop, there are many other options out there:
- Non-phallic long dildos – These types are ideal for girls who don’t like the look of dicks. They give you that classic dildo shape, but without alluding to the male anatomy.
- Strap-on dildos – Strap-on dildos are some of the best lesbian toys. You strap them onto your crotch or hips via a special harness. Think of all the options here! You can take the lead with your partner for vaginal or anal play, or explore pegging. Also, you can use them on your male partner to explore pegging.
- Anal dildos – While you can use standard dildos for anal pleasures, there are lots of specialized butt toys to stimulate your booty just the way you like it. That includes beaded, cone-shaped, inflatable dildos, etc.
- Double penetration dildos – These are similar to double-ended dildos, except they’re not stretchy. They have two ends that point straight to both your holes to allow you to double your fun.
- Ejaculating dildos – These toys dispense simulated semen for users who enjoy ejaculation or insemination fantasies. They provide a controllable way to explore this type of stimulation during solo or partnered play. Use only body-safe fluid specifically designed for the toy, and clean all internal channels thoroughly after each use.
- Fantasy and extra-large dildos – This category includes oversized realistic models, tentacle and dragon designs, and other fantasy-inspired toys. Some measure more than 14 inches, so they are best suited to experienced users who are already comfortable with substantial length and girth.
- Mini dildos – This option is great for anyone who isn’t so turned on by kinky dildos and just needs a vanilla toy to get the job done. The smaller size is a great fit for anyone who’s just starting out!

Dildo Buying Guide
So how do you choose the best dildo for your needs? If you’re on a limited budget and you want to get it right the first time, I’ll help you ride out the storm!
Five Things to Check Before Buying
First, follow my method for choosing the best dildo:
- Make a shortlist of the dildos that best match your preferences. To save time, choose an option from this guide or explore our individual product reviews for more detailed recommendations.
- Does the toy appeal to you and make you genuinely interested in trying it? If you want an ejaculating dildo, choose a model designed to release simulated fluid safely and controllably.
- While it’s good to think about the best dildos that turn you on, consider the materials and the size.
- Which features do you want in an extra-large dildo? Consider whether you prefer vibration, thrusting movement, or a classic non-powered design for straightforward vaginal, anal, or partnered play.
- What type of stimulation do you want? Depending on your needs, you may prefer a versatile dildo suitable for vaginal and anal use, provided it has a flared base, or a more specialized design such as a curved G-spot dildo.
Dildo Materials and Safety
Some of the options described above may sound appealing, but avoid choosing a toy based on appearance alone. Before buying, check the material carefully and prioritize body-safe, easy-to-clean options that suit the intended type of use.
Non-Porous and Porous Materials
Most dildos are made from silicone or TPE, but the two materials have important differences. Body-safe silicone is generally the better choice for ejaculating dildos, extra-large models, fantasy toys, and other products that require dependable durability and easier cleaning. High-quality silicone is non-porous, does not readily retain bacteria, and has a smooth, velvety texture. It can be used for vaginal, anal, or oral stimulation when the toy’s shape and base are suitable for the intended purpose.
TPE is another common option. It is softer, stretchier, and may feel more lifelike than silicone, which some users prefer. However, TPE is porous and requires more careful cleaning, complete drying, and separate storage. It may also absorb odors or degrade more quickly, so inspect it regularly and replace the toy if the surface becomes sticky, cracked, discolored, or difficult to clean thoroughly.
High-quality borosilicate glass offers a different experience. It is non-porous, easy to clean, and highly durable when handled correctly. Some glass toys can also be disinfected more thoroughly than softer materials, provided the manufacturer’s care instructions allow it. Glass is completely rigid, however, so it creates firmer pressure during insertion. Some users enjoy that precision, while others may find it less natural or comfortable.
What to Avoid
If you are a beginner, a body-safe silicone dildo is often a practical choice because it is non-porous, durable, and easy to clean. Be more cautious with materials such as jelly, PVC, and some rubber blends, as their composition and porosity can vary considerably. Avoid toys with strong chemical odors, unclear material labeling, or undisclosed plasticizers, and choose products from reputable manufacturers that provide complete material and care information.
Dildo Features Worth Considering
By default, dildos don’t include a whole lot of additional features. Most of the variety you’ll encounter will revolve around sizes, shapes and colors. However, we’re living in a new era of sex toys and literally, anything is possible. Here are some of the most exciting features you could get:
Remote Control
Personally, I enjoy remote-controlled dildos, especially models with a suction-cup base for hands-free use. This feature is most common on vibrating or thrusting designs and allows you to adjust the settings without reaching for the controls on the toy itself. During partnered play, your partner can also operate the remote, giving them control over the pace and intensity of the stimulation.
Bases and Harness Compatibility
Many dildos include a testicle-shaped or extended base, while others use a simpler design. This feature comes down to personal preference and whether you enjoy additional external contact against the clitoris during penetration. On vibrating models, the base may also transfer some of the vibration to the surrounding area. If you prefer a lighter, less bulky toy, choose a streamlined base. If you enjoy a softer, more lifelike design and added external stimulation, a testicle-shaped base may be a better fit.
VR and Long-Distance
App-controlled dildos are the newest options out there and you can use them for all sorts of virtual fun. If you can pair a vibrating or thrusting dildo to an app on your phone, you can connect with a long-distance partner. Then, your partner could control the dildo instead of you while you’re chatting via video. Alternatively, some dildos are VR-enabled. This means they can sync to virtual reality content for an immersive masturbation experience.
More Options to Consider
I’ve pretty much described most of the special features so far, but there are some additional options you should look into regardless of the type of dildo you need:
- Waterproof – If you want a shower dildo, it needs to be waterproof. Shower dildos are water-resistant which means their mechanism won’t get damaged if you expose it to water.
- Power and noise – For vibrating dildos, I’d recommend you choose USB-rechargeable toys. But, bear in mind that most vibrating dildos are quite loud. Textures – You could encounter porn star dildos that are molded from the real-life cock of your favorite male performer. Alternatively, if you want a different texture, you can get a dildo with ribs, swirls, beads and dots.
- Colors – Finally, the colors could play a big role in your decision. For example, your toy could finally fulfill your realistic ejaculation fantasy. But, you don’t have to choose skin colors at all if you’re not into that. You can pick blue, pink, red, purple and all kinds of other colors.
How to Choose the Right Size
I’ll be honest here: using a dildo that’s too big could make you uncomfortable. Look, I’m not saying you don’t know what dick size suits you the best, I’m just reminding you what you need to focus on.
If this is your first dildo, use an average size and take it from there. If you already know what dick size you prefer and if you’ve had tons of experience with hung dudes, bottoms up!
Dildo Size Guide
Basically, most dildos that are around 5 inches long will be enough to satisfy you. That’s because the average vaginal depth is roughly between 3 and 6 inches. This will all depend on how tight you are and how much you can take.
In my experience, beginners are usually better off starting with a manageable insertable length of around 5 to 6 inches. More experienced users may prefer something in the 6-to-8-inch range, while toys measuring 8 inches or more can feel significantly more demanding than they appear. Extra-large models above 10 inches are best reserved for users who already know their limits and are comfortable with gradual insertion. Size tolerance varies widely, so use generous lubricant, move slowly, never force the toy, and stop immediately if you experience pain or persistent discomfort.
What’s more, you shouldn’t neglect the girth. That includes anything from 1 inch to dildos that are thicker than a soda can. This is also up to you, but try to take it easy at first and aim for 1 to 2 inches.
Price
Depending on your budget, you could get an affordable toy or a premium option. I’d always advise you to skip the budget options and spend a little more. The most important thing here is to buy your huge dildo from a reputable brand. That way, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.
If you’re having doubts, I’d say anything from $40 to $60 will get you a quality realistic dildo. And if you want to spend more and get all kinds of unusual features, you should expect to pay around $60 to $100 and over depending on the brand.
How to Use, Clean, and Store a Dildo
An extra-large dildo should be used only for its intended purpose and within your comfort level. Depending on its shape and base, it may be suitable for vaginal use, anal play, or external stimulation. For anal use, always choose a model with a wide flared base or secure retrieval handle, apply generous lubricant, and proceed slowly without forcing insertion.
Start slowly and allow your body enough time to relax before inserting a larger toy. Begin with external stimulation, fingers, or a smaller insertable toy to build arousal and prepare gradually. Use generous lubricant, increase the depth at a comfortable pace, and stop if you experience pain or persistent discomfort.
Dildo Mistakes to Avoid
- Skipping lube – even if you feel ready, lube dramatically improves the experience and protects tissue. Water-based works for all materials.
- Silicone lube on a silicone toy – it degrades the material over time. Always check compatibility before using an oil or silicone lube.
- Going too large too fast – size progression matters. Work up over multiple sessions, not multiple minutes.
- Skipping the warm-up – fingers or a smaller toy first makes everything more comfortable and more enjoyable.
- Not checking the base – Any toy used anally must have a wide flared base or secure retrieval handle. Standard dildos without one should not be inserted anally, even for shallow use.
- Storing with other toys – silicone reacts with some materials when stored in contact. Keep each toy in its own pouch or box.
Choosing a Compatible Lubricant
Before using an extra-large dildo, apply a generous amount of compatible lubricant to both the toy and your body. This is important even if you already feel naturally lubricated, as larger toys create more surface contact and friction during insertion. Adequate lubricant helps the toy move more smoothly, improves comfort, and reduces the risk of irritation. Reapply as needed and never force insertion if your body feels tense or uncomfortable.
Here, it’s important to only use the correct lube type. My recommendation is water-based lube because it goes well with all materials. For example, if you use silicone-based lube, it could harm your silicone dildo.
Tips for Comfortable Use
Once the lubricated dildo is inserted comfortably, you can begin exploring the depth, pressure, and movement that feel best for your body. Take your time, adjust the pace as needed, and focus on the sensations you enjoy most.
Experiment with the areas and types of stimulation that feel best for your body. You might combine penetration with clitoral stimulation, explore edging and teasing, alternate between slow and deeper movement or faster rocking motions, or try carefully controlled vaginal and anal play with separate, suitable toys. These techniques may support clitoral, G-spot, blended, or anal orgasms, and some users may experience multiple orgasms during a session. Take breaks when needed, stay aware of sensitivity, and stop if anything becomes uncomfortable.
Cleaning and Storage
Even if you feel tired after an intense session, do not leave your dildo on the floor or put it away without cleaning it. Wash the toy according to the manufacturer’s instructions, allow it to dry completely, and store it in a clean, dry place to protect the material and keep it hygienic for future use.
The best way to keep the thing safe is to clean it right afterward. What I recommend you do is rinse your dildo out under the tap. This method will work with all of the materials I’ve previously described. Plus, you could also use some mild soap to keep your huge dildo spotless. What you should avoid are cleaning chemicals and strong soaps. And when you’re all done, make sure your dildo is dry before you store it. You could leave it to air dry and place it in a plastic box or a carrying pouch.
A Brief History of Dildos
To end my guide on the hottest dildos, I also want to turn your attention to the dildo industry and the unusual history of these magical orgasm gadgets. Did you know our ancestors actually used them 30,000 years ago when they felt lonely in their stone caves?
The History of Dildos
Surprisingly, this whole thing started at least 30,000 years ago: the earliest known dildos were used in the Upper Palaeolithic era. They were made of polished rocks! Also, women in ancient Egypt wore stone phallic objects around their waists to please the old Gods. In ancient Greece, Rome and Japan, early dildos were used for sexual purposes, while other cultures used them for kinky defloration rituals. The lines get blurred a bit here but we know for a fact that glass dildos were invented in the late 1500.
Additionally, the modern-day dildo for women mainly originated from the 1850s. They gained popularity in the 1930s. These dildos were primitive objects made of rubber. We had to wait until the 1960s to get a bonafide silicone dildo.
During the sexual revolution, a tragically paralyzed gentleman named Gosnell Duncan invented the first realistic dildo to allow him to have sex with his wife. The idea was a success and that brings us up to the major expansion in sex toys during the later half of the 20th century. Dildos for women were huge (in more ways than one) back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but everything changed with the dawn of the internet in the 1990s. Thanks to anonymous online shopping, people swarmed the web to order themselves a quality dildo!
New Technology and Product Trends
Let’s not forget about the massive surge of innovations that occurred in the past two decades. Honestly, this is the best time to be alive as far as sex toys are concerned. The industry leaders keep updating them and pushing the boundaries of originality and functionality.
Right now, the top brands you should keep an eye out for are Kiiroo, Lovehoney, Lelo, Fun Factory, Doc Johnson, We-Vibe, Adam and Eve and many more. These names are giving us downright revolutionary dildos that will take us into the future. That’s why we should hope to see unexpected twists that no one saw coming.
One area worth watching is the development of VR- and AI-enabled sex toys. As immersive adult content becomes more advanced, future dildos may be able to synchronize movement, vibration, or thrusting patterns with performer-led VR experiences. This may sound ambitious, but existing smart vibrators and automated toys for men, including blowjob machines, already show how connected pleasure technology is evolving. Future designs may include greater automation, more responsive controls, personalized settings, and smarter performance tracking. Until those features become widely available, focus on choosing a well-made dildo that matches your preferred size, material, and type of stimulation.
FAQs About Dildos
Dildos can help a lot if you’re already having difficulty orgasming. They can provide you with pleasant penetrative sensations to teach you to have full-on vaginal orgasms if you’ve never had them before. The easiest way to get off with a dildo is to get turned on, push it inside and try all sorts of thrusting motions while pleasuring your clit at the same time.
Of course! Actually, I would encourage you to experiment. For example, you could use a dildo for penetration or a vibrator for clitoral fun. This could make you orgasm even faster and with more intensity. You can also use other toys like butt plugs or kinky things like handcuffs to spice things up. The best way to figure out what you need is to focus on your turn-ons and pick the most orgasmic toys for you.
While huge dildos could appeal to a lot of women, they’re not for everyone. For one, they are really, really big. If you’ve only had an average penis or toy size inside so far, I wouldn’t recommend you to try them. Believe me, these things are around 10 inches long on the smaller side! Even scarier, some have a length of a whopping 14 or more inches. Super-big dildos are unsafe to use if you’re untrained because they could cause internal tears. So only use them if you have tried this before and you know that your anatomy can handle it.
You bet! You can get classic dildos, huge dildos or even mini dildos with a non-phallic shape if you don’t like big black dildos. They will have a smooth texture that will not remind you of a real penis. This is the toy to get if you are not into male penises or if you just need something that has a unique look of its own.
Using two dildos can provide a controlled way to explore double penetration without involving an additional partner. Use a separate toy for vaginal and anal penetration, and make sure the anal toy has a wide flared base or secure retrieval handle. Never move a toy from the anus to the vagina without washing it thoroughly and replacing the condom, as this can transfer bacteria and increase the risk of infection. Use generous lubricant, proceed slowly, and stop immediately if you experience pain or discomfort.
If you buy your new dildo online, you won’t have to worry about any privacy or discretion issues. Buying sex toys online is almost fully anonymous and no one except you, the retailer and your bank will know. In some cases, the purchase won’t show up as a sex toy on your bank statement at all. Plus, when it arrives at your door, it will be packed in a nondescript box and no one will know what’s inside.
For partnered play between women, some of the most practical options include strap-on dildos, double-ended dildos, and vibrating dildos. The best choice depends on the type of stimulation, positioning, and level of control both partners prefer.
An ejaculating dildo cannot cause pregnancy when it is used only with simulated semen or a compatible lubricant. These toys typically dispense a white, semen-like fluid designed for fantasy play, but you should use only products specifically labeled as body-safe and compatible with the toy. Pregnancy is possible only if real semen is introduced into or near the vagina, so clean the toy thoroughly and avoid cross-contamination.
Clean your dildo with warm water and mild, unscented soap before and after each use. Non-motorized toys made from silicone, borosilicate glass, or ABS plastic may tolerate more thorough disinfecting methods, but boil or place them in a dishwasher only when the manufacturer specifically confirms that it is safe. For vibrating or motorized dildos, wipe them with a damp cloth or rinse them only if they are rated as waterproof. Never submerge a toy that is merely water-resistant or not waterproof.
TPE is porous and requires more careful cleaning, complete drying, and separate storage. Inspect it regularly and replace it if the surface becomes sticky, cracked, discolored, damaged, or difficult to clean thoroughly.
For most beginners, 5 to 6 inches of insertable length and 1 to 1.5 inches of diameter is a comfortable starting point. This matches the average vaginal depth and allows your body to adjust without discomfort. The Master Series Power Pounder from our list is a great beginner option – it offers graduated settings to build tolerance gradually.
A dildo is a non-motorized toy designed for penetration – it relies on manual thrusting or suction-cup mounting. A vibrator adds an internal motor to create vibrating sensations. Vibrating dildos exist in between – they look and feel like dildos but include vibration settings. If you want realistic penetration without added stimulation, a classic dildo is the pick. If you want internal vibrations alongside penetration, choose a vibrating dildo.
Yes – most realistic dildos are harness-compatible, but always check the base design. A dildo needs a wide, flat flared base (or a bulb base) to sit securely in a harness O-ring. The VixSkin Vixen Gambler and VixSkin Vixen Johnny from our list are both excellent strap-compatible options.
